P4L students visit State Capitol: On May 18 Prepared 4 Life students joined students from the Energized for Excellence Academy to visit the Texas State Capitol, where they watched history unfold during the 80th Texas Legislative Session. They attended a press conference on the steps of the Texas State Capitol where the issue of the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP bill) was addressed by various coalitions. Attending the press conference were Representatives Ellen Cohen, Sylvester Turner, Patrick Rose and other elected officials. The students sat in the House Gallery and in the Senate Gallery, where they watched and heard deliberations. Senator Rodney Ellis recognized the Prepared 4 Life students, and representatives Sylvester Turner (Houston) and Armando Martinez (Rio Grande Valley) took time out to speak with the students and answer their questions. view photos
